Life is a journey…enjoy it one sip at a time!
– Deborah Brenner
I’m guessing that since you’re reading this blog that you have an interest in wine (or you’re one of my friends, with no interest in wine, just trying to show your support in the blog — and for that I thank you). If you’d like to learn more about the wine industry and love to read, I highly recommend a book called Women of the Vine, by Deborah Brenner.
If you’ve ever wanted to be taken on a journey through wine country with some of the best women in the wine industry, then this book is just the ticket. Brenner gives us an honest look at herself throughout the course of book and it carries through to the individual interviews that she has compiled of the women in the business. It’s not just about the wine — it’s about the personal journey, too.
The women in the book not only share wine tips and food pairings, but they also share their struggles with making it in the industry, in addition to balancing work and family life. As Brenner puts it, “This is not just a book for women, but for all people who desire to pursue their dreams, take chances, and create the life they want to live. It is not about ratings, scores, competition, techniques, or tasting notes. It is about the true pleasure of wine and what it means to so many of us.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself! Check out the book today and learn more about the Women of the Vine movement (which includes supporting sustainable farming) here.
